Alsterrunde

A weekly newsletter for anyone who wants to know Hamburg a little better. Local politics, new discoveries, everyday moments, and everything in between.
Alsterrunde

I’ve been living in Hamburg for eight years now, and I still enjoy every second of it.

Since releasing Franzbrötchen, my city super app for Hamburg, I’ve received an incredible amount of positive feedback from people who use it, love the city, and want to discover more of it. That response made me want to do even more for Hamburg.

I’m not planning to leave Hamburg anytime soon. In fact, I can’t really imagine myself living in another city. Maybe that’s why I find myself constantly thinking about Hamburg: its politics, its everyday life, its small details, its hidden corners, and the things that make it such a special place to live.

Over time, I realized I wanted a place to share these thoughts, discoveries, and ideas more regularly. A newsletter felt like the right format.

The name comes from one of the most Hamburg things I know: taking a walk around the Alster. Just like I named my app after my favorite local pastry, I wanted this newsletter to feel rooted in the city too.

In Alsterrunde, I’ll share a mix of things: thoughts on local politics, everyday observations, new discoveries, hidden gems, bits of Hamburg history, ideas for the city, and updates from the Franzbrötchen app. Sometimes it will be personal, sometimes practical, sometimes opinionated, and sometimes simply about something I found interesting while exploring the city.

If you live in Hamburg, love Hamburg, or are planning to move here, I’d love for you to subscribe to Alsterrunde.
